Kebbi wins 3rd Nigerian Title, as Sand Eagles returns.

The Nigerian Beach Soccer League reached its climax over the weekend, with Kebbi BSC emerging victorious in the Super 4 National Finals held in Kaduna. This marks their third title in the competition, solidifying their dominance in the domestic beach soccer scene.

The league’s success sets the stage for the highly anticipated return of Nigeria’s national beach soccer team; the Sand Eagles to international competition. After a brief hiatus, the team is ready to take on the continental challenge, with the upcoming 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritania serving as a crucial test.

The Nigerian Beach Soccer League’s finale was the culmination of a nearly three-month-long round-robin tournament held across various regions of the country, including Anambra, Kebbi, and Kaduna. The competition showcased the country’s top beach soccer clubs, with Kebbi BSC emerging victorious once again in the fourth year of the league. This not only demonstrate sustainable growth of the game in the country but also a promising sign for the Sand Eagles guaranteed talent pool.

With the recent approval of the Nigeria Football Federation, the Sand Eagles are gearing up to face Mauritania in the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The first leg is scheduled for July 20 in Nouakchott, with the return leg taking place in Nigeria a week later.
