Ghana Beach Soccer League Kicks Off with Zonal Fixtures

The anticipation is mounting as the 2022/23 Ghana Beach Soccer League prepares to kick off on Saturday, June 17, 2023, with an electrifying lineup of matches in Zone One.

Four League Centres, including Keta, Ada, La, and Senya, have been chosen to host the league matches, providing picturesque settings for the beach soccer extravaganza. With fourteen top-notch Beach Soccer Clubs divided into two zones, the battle for the championship title promises to be intense and fiercely competitive.

Zone One showcases an impressive lineup of talented teams ready to showcase their skills on the sand. Nungua BSC, Layoca BSC, Dansoman BSC, Sea Sharks, Teshie Utd BSC, Okere Rangers BSC, Cheetah BSC, and Senya Sharks BSC are all geared up to make their mark in the league.

The Chairman of Ghana Beach Soccer Clubs Union (Ghabscu), Mr. Kusi Gyamfi Awere, expressed his optimism and excitement ahead of the new league season.

I am filled with optimism and excitement as we approach the new league season. Beach soccer is a truly riveting and thrilling sport, known for its unique energy and action-packed gameplay.

Mr. Kusi Gyamfi Awere, Chairman of Ghana Beach Soccer Clubs Union, CEO of Sea Sharks Beach Soccer Club

The Laboma Beach Resort in Accra will witness the grand opening of the league, and fans can expect an exhilarating showdown between Nungua BSC and Layoca BSC at 2 pm. The excitement continues with matches featuring Okere Rangers vs. Senya Sharks and Cheetah BSC vs. Dansoman BSC. The final match of Week 1 will see Sea Sharks take on Teshie United BSC, adding an extra layer of excitement to the opening weekend.

Sunday’s attention will shift to the beautiful Keta Emancipation Beach in the Volta region, where Zone Two will kick off with exhilarating matches between Ada Assurance and Kedzi Miracle BSC, Sunset Sport Keta and Ocean Stars Tegbi, and Havedzi Mighty Warriors against Vodza Iron Breakers.

The decision to play the league at different venues unlike when all games were played at one centre is very welcoming. This will help grow and popularize beach soccer, especially in the coastal regions. Will also reduce the high cost and stress involved in travelling long hours to Accra every weekend to play games. We commend the FA for their efforts and we hope this season will further promote the development of beach soccer in Ghana.

In addition to the thrilling matches, fans can look forward to a range of activities, side attractions, and captivating entertainment throughout the season. The league matches will be spread across multiple centres, allowing beach soccer enthusiasts from different regions to experience the excitement firsthand.

As the countdown begins, fans and players alike are bracing themselves for an unforgettable journey through the sands of beach soccer. With the new format and reinvigorated teams, the 2022/23 Beach Soccer League promises to captivate audiences with thrilling displays of skill, determination, and passion for the beautiful game played on the sun-kissed shores of Ghana.

Get ready to witness the magic unfold and let the games begin.
