Final four decided at COSAFA Beach Soccer Cup

African champions Senegal set up a semifinal clash with Uganda in Durban on Wednesday, as Egypt tackles Mozambique in the other Last 4 match-up.

Seychelles 2-12 Senegal
Senegal crushed Seychelles 12-2 in their final Group B clash on Wednesday, equaling the biggest victory achieved at the tournament so far. Seychelles has been on the wrong end of both scorelines.

There were hattricks for Mamour Diagne, who took his tally in the competition to six, and Mamadou Sylla as the West African side were far too strong for their Island opponents. Senegal made the semifinals of last year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia, while Seychelles are hoping to host next year’s event.

South Africa 4-8 Mozambique
Mozambique made sure of second place in the pool when they defeated hosts South Africa 8-4, the latter losing all three of their pool games on home soil. Mambas star Nelson scored four goals in the game to head this year’s scorers’ charts with eight and stay on course to be the leading marksman in the competition for the second year running.

Egypt 7-2 Uganda
Egypt took the top spot in a winner-takes-all battle with Uganda in Group B as they emerged comfortable 7-2 winners. The hero for them was defender Hassan Hussein, who bagged a hattrick with some stunning long-range shots.

Mauritis 2-5 Tanzania
Last year’s finalists Tanzania restored some pride with a 5-2 victory over Mauritius that ensured they avoided the wooden spoon in Group B. Both teams had lost their first two games and were already out of the running for a semifinal place.

Matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 205. They will also be streamed on SABC Sport Channel 124, and on COSAFA.TV and FIFA+.

Semi-final Fixtures:
– Senegal vs. Uganda
– Egypt vs. Mozambique

Games will be played on Friday with the Senegalese first up at 10h30 CAT to be followed by the second semifinal at 12h00 CAT.
