COSAFA2022: Uganda, Senegal takes opening win, as Seychelles stuns host in Durban.

Senegal, Uganda, Egypt and Seychelles take full points in Durban on Day 1 of the COSAFA Beach Soccer Cup.

Senegal narrowly edges Mozambique
Senegal ranked no. 1 team on the African continent narrowly secured a 5-4 victory over Mozambique in their first match of the COSAFA Beach Soccer Cup.

2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup finalist and winner of the Best Player Award at the AFCON 2021 Nelson Manual, Mozambique’s star striker inspired his team to good efforts in the second period to reduce the goal tally but the Teranga Lions took the full points at stoppage time.

Host bows to Seychelles
The second match of the day between the host South Africa and Seychelles finished in a 5-goals thriller, with Seychelles Glenny Gamatis awarded the Player of the Match helping his side to secure a 3-2 victory over the host.

Egypt down Mauritius 
Regulars at the AFCON Beach Soccer, Egypt performed impressively in their first match with a convincing 6-3 victory over Mauritius.

Mauritius took an early 2-1 lead in the first period but the Egyptians recovered in the second period and held the same till the final whistle at 6-3 in favour of the Egyptians.

Uganda beat neighbours Tanzania 
In the final match of the day, Joshua Lubwama’s strike in the first period gave Uganda an early lead. Tanzania levelled but Ambrose’s brace and ​​Kawawulo’s goal sealed the convincing 4-2 victory for Angelo Schirinzi boys against Tanzania.
