The 13th FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup may be underway in Seychelles, but long before the first kick of sand, its rhythm had already been set. The official tournament theme song, “Boom Se Se,” was brought to life by award-winning Seychellois artist Taniah Jeremie and fellow artist Elijah.
In an exclusive interview, Taniah opens up about the creative journey behind the song Boom Se Se, her rise as an international performer, and her passion for her home country and its people.
“Boom Se Se”: A Cultural Anthem with Global Impact
The high-energy anthem Boom Se Se isn’t just a song produced by renowned producer Dareal Thing, it’s a song that echoes vibrancy, and unity and is deeply rooted in Seychellois culture. According to Taniah, the inspiration came from Elijah, who initially envisioned the track and invited her into the creative process.
“The beat, lyrics, and concept were already forming when I joined Elijah and Dareal Thing in the studio. My passion brought it to life. We wanted the song to reflect our culture, like the old Seychellois game Boom Se Se and chants like Jeje je Jalumbe. It had to be upbeat, catchy, and easy for fans worldwide to sing along.”
The use of repetition and cultural motifs turned the song into an accessible and vibrant celebration, meant to unite audiences of all ages and nationalities.
A Global Stage, A Local Voice

For Taniah, being invited to co-perform the official theme song at such a prestigious international event was both humbling and affirming.
“It’s an honour. Performing for a global FIFA event means that millions of people are hearing our story, our sound. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this. It’s a huge milestone in my music career, and I’m proud of what we’ve created.”
The song, accompanied by a visually stunning music video, showcases not just talent but the beauty and essence of Seychelles, a tropical nation often underrepresented on the world music stage.
Behind the Scenes with Elijah and Dareal Thing
Taniah’s long-standing working relationship with producer Dareal Thing made the recording process feel like home. Elijah had laid the groundwork, and Taniah added her signature vocals with confidence.
“Elijah called me one morning and said, ‘Just come and add your vocals.’ It was just me and Dareal Thing in the studio that day. We have such a great understanding, it flowed naturally.”
The synergy among the trio created a track that resonates emotionally and rhythmically, blending modern production with cultural storytelling.
Representing Seychelles Through Sound
Beyond its rhythmic appeal, Boom Se Se is a nod to Seychellois heritage. The titular phrase refers to a traditional game once played by island ancestors, bringing nostalgic memories to the fore while energizing new generations.
“It’s more than a song. It’s a celebration of who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going. It bridges the past and the future.”
Breaking Barriers and Winning Awards

Taniah recently made history as the first Seychellois artist nominated and subsequently awarded the prestigious ODA East African Superstar Award. Her recognition places Seychelles firmly on the African music map.
“It’s an honour to win this award and to be the first female artist from Seychelles to do so. I made sure I was there to receive it, it was emotional. It means the world is watching, and that’s exciting for my journey ahead.”
A Message to Emerging Artists
Having broken into international circles, Taniah shares heartfelt advice with young artists from island nations:
“Dreams do come true. Stay focused. Use social media to your advantage, it’s one of the strongest tools artists have now. Be consistent, and passionate, and put yourself out there. Seychelles has so much talent. Let’s show the world.”
Roots That Ground Her Art
Taniah’s upbringing in the close-knit Copolia sub-district in Mahe has profoundly influenced her values and creativity.
“I grew up surrounded by family. We cooked, sang, danced, and played together. That unity shaped my music and who I am. Now, I give back by mentoring youth and supporting upcoming talents. Music isn’t just for me, it’s for my community.”
Beyond the Mic: Motherhood, Food, and Family
Away from the spotlight, Taniah finds joy in motherhood, food, and family time.
“People don’t see the struggles behind being a mom and an artist. It’s not always glamorous. It takes support, resilience, and sacrifice. But my daughter and my family keep me grounded. And yes, I love shopping and food too!” she laughs.
What’s Next for Taniah?
With a FIFA performance and an international award under her belt, the future looks promising.
“I hope these achievements open new doors. Locally, I don’t know what’s next exactly, but I’m placing everything in God’s hands. I just want to keep creating, inspiring, and representing Seychelles to the world.”
