“We want Beach Soccer to be Olympic by 2028” – Joan Cuscó

The Beach Soccer Worldwide President talks about the possibility of the sport becoming Olympic at the 2022 NEOM Beach Soccer Cup Finals.

The President of Beach Soccer Worldwide was approached at the NEOM Beach Soccer Cup Finals press conference about the possibility of Beach Soccer becoming an Olympic sport. Asked by a member of the Paraguayan delegation, who gave the example of the recent success of Beach Soccer in the ODESUR South American games in terms of viewers in the stadium and through TV, if Beach Soccer is closer to becoming Olympic, Joan Cuscó replied: “What you have done in Latin America in the ODESUR games is fantastic for the Olympic family. It’s important for us that Beach Soccer was the most watched, most followed and most successful sport in such an Olympic competition in the region of South America.

Cusco added: “This is what we push for every day, and we will be in Poland for the European Games next summer, and in the World Beach Games in Indonesia in August. We try to bring Beach Soccer to the Olympic family every single day, and we get closer.

Paris 2024 is too close, but Los Angeles 2028 is our objective. We are working hard, FIFA is helping. We are working hard with them and the International Olympic Committee. We have some confidence. I still think there’s a way to go but we are closer to the Olympics than ever.” Joan Cuscó concluded.
